The San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement and Immigration Affairs had a problem most organizations quietly struggle with. A wealth of data and no clear way to make sense of it. Their Community Ambassadors Program (CAP) had generated a massive dataset spanning years of services, but the complexity of that data made it hard to spot trends, evaluate what was working, and make confident decisions about where to go next. As a Senior Fellow and assistant to the data analyst, I led the development of the dashboards and visualizations that changed that. Over the course of my time there I designed and maintained more than 10 interactive dashboards and graphs in Power BI and Excel, translating over 260,000 services provided between 2022 and 2023 into clear, actionable insights for program staff, city officials, and stakeholders. I also engineered the data cleaning, structuring, and analysis pipelines that processed over 150,000 data points annually, making sure the numbers decision-makers were looking at were actually accurate and trustworthy. The work shifted how the program evaluated its own effectiveness. Instead of sitting in spreadsheets, the data became something people could actually use to make informed, strategic calls every month.
