THE PROBLEM According to the CDC (2022) 31.8% of people over the age of 18 suffer from allergies, highlighting the need for effective management and prevention strategies to alleviate symptoms. Many people lack access to real-time pollen index information and personalized health recommendations to help them manage their symptoms, resulting in a healthcare gap. THE SOLUTION I developed POLLEN, a web application that uses a suite of APIs, including the Google Pollen API and USPS Zipcode Geo Locator, to retrieve real-time pollen index data. It provides users with personalized health recommendations based on their location. The application features a cloud-based architecture built with Next.js, JavaScript, and Git, and it emphasizes a humnan centric design that prioritizes data-driven health insights. Having personally experienced server allergies during the development cycle, I was motivated to create a solution that could make a meaningful impact on users' lives.
